Cirulisi

In Cesis, there is an area near the Gauja river called Cirulisi. It is the access point to a lot of great hiking trails and formerly a huge resort in the Soviet times. Now it is the host of a small health center and a fairly new skiing center. The skiing looks like it is nice in the winter, but keep in mind that the highest "mountain" in Latvia is 311 meters.

Our hike was lovely, but we had to keep moving to outrun the mosquitoes. Here are some pictures of us there.

An old bobsled track, in disrepair since 1988. It was once 900 meters long and used every winter since it was built in the 60's.

Fresh strawberries were everywhere!
